Ah, siblings. Some days they love each other… some days well, you’d like to separate them until they remember how much they do love each other! Luckily for Helisa & I, our kids are pretty good at getting along for the most part, and they all happen to be huge music lovers! It’s been a fun summer of introducing the kids to some of our favourites and Beat Bugs has us set up with a new way to share some music nostalgia – with this fun kids show inspired (and incorporting) some fun Beatles music!
With the new Netflix original series Beat Bugs, inspired by the music of The Beatles, your next family sing-along can include classics such as Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds or Blackbird! Thanks to five charming and energetic bug-like creatures (Jay, Kumi, Crick, Buzz and Walter), families have the opportunity to come together over kid-friendly storylines and the best darn music ever made – re-recorded by today’s top artists, including P!nk, Sia and Eddie Vedder.
Whether you’re a Beatles fan or not, there’s something charming about watching so many nostalgic hits be belted out by these adorable little bugs. We have a major soft spot for Beat Bugs, as the animation company that made it all happen has Vancouver roots and well, we love supporting our local talent!
The Beat Bugs not only know how to dance, sing and party, they’re also fabulous at problem solving, working as a team and being good friends so I have no problem letting this show stream all day at our house. Suffice to say, if you listen closely enough… I may even be singing along!
We’ve got a few (see, close to 12) semesters of Music Together until our belts with all 3 kids and we’ve learned pretty quick that music, rhythm and catchy tunes help children develop a love for music early on so why not have a bit of fun with it? Haul out the instruments, toss on a nostalgia favourite with Beat Bugs and get your family jam on!
If you’re looking for a show the whole family can get behind, this one is it! We’ve been watching it since it premiered and have loved following along on through each episode, falling in love with a Beatles hit over and over again. My personal favourite is Sia’s rendition of “Blackbird”!
