Slurpee Name Your Price Day is back at 7-Eleven for Food Banks Canada

7-Eleven Name Your Price Day

SlurpeeNYPD

Last year, 7-Eleven’s Slurpee Name Your Price Day was such a hit, they just had to do it again, and with 100% of total sales or donations going directly to Food Banks Canada, it was one Slurpee customers could definitely feel good about. On Wednesday September 16th at all 7-11 locations, you will have another chance to help feed the hungry by buying your large Slurpee for as much or as little as you can afford. Every single nickle that comes in either through large Slurpee purchases, or by donation if you don’t have a sweet tooth, goes directly to helping fellow Canadians put food on their plate. Generous 7-Eleven patrons raised over $120,000 in a single day last year with this feels good/tastes good fundraiser, and this year a challenge has been issued by 7-Eleven and Food Banks Canada.

“We want to thank our Slurpee fans for being so generous last year and now challenge them to raise even more funds this year and have an even greater impact on those in need across the country” – Raj Kapoor, Vice President and General Manager of 7-Eleven Canada

With a large purchasing power, every single dollar can translate to three meals for those in need so, that $120,000 raised last year equates to 360,000 meals! Why are your donations so important? Consider these stats from Food Banks Canada:

  • Over 14 million visits were made to Canadian Food Banks in 2014
  • More than 4 million meals and snacks were served by Food Bank Canada’s network of more than 500 food banks and 3,000 food organizations in 2014
  • More than 840,000 Canadians are helped by a food bank each month, more than a third are children (6,200 buses full of children!)
  • One in five people have skipped a meal either because they could not afford food or so that their children could eat

With school back in session, there are many families across the nation struggling to provide enough nutrition to their children so that they can have enough energy to learn in school. Many children are starting their day with empty tummies. As a parent, this breaks my heart. And as a parent, I’ve also seen first hand what can happen to a child who has been hungry for an hour or so. How can kids with hollow bellies adequately learn and participate? This is where your spare change will make a huge impact.

So when and where can you help stamp out hunger with Slurpees?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2015 at all locations across Canada!

Besides helping this worthy cause, 7-Eleven and Slurpee fans can scan their 7Rewards App towards getting their seventh cup free. Don’t have the App? Get it here! It will also help you find the nearest available store for when you just gotta go. On September 16, customers are encouraged share their experience on social media using #NameYourPriceDay or by tweeting at@7ElevenCanada.
