Are you ready to experience MY neighborhood magic? It’s not often I get to share the holiday happenings in my own little community! Get ready for the festive spirit to soar as Deck the Heights returns to Burnaby Heights on Dec. 2, 2023. This beloved tradition has been a staple in the community, and this year promises to be filled with joy, laughter, and holiday magic.
Burnaby Heights is where the holiday magic takes flight
I grew up right in the middle of Burnaby Heights, not far from where I currently live actually. Having seen the community grow and flourish to what it is now has been an incredible experience that has left an indelible mark on my journey from childhood to adulthood. I can still visit the elementary school I went to, and the school I met my now husband at, we’ve got 30+ years in the Heights and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Recognizable by it’s tree-lined streets and vibrant community atmosphere, the Heights provides a picturesque backdrop for a lot of neighborhood adventures, with endless possibilities to build traditions and memories.
Burnaby Heights is home to many annual festivities, including Trick or Treat in the Heights, Deck the Heights celebrations and more with many of these events having become cherished traditions for local families. Adding in an eclectic mix of shops and eateries along Hastings street, you’re greeted with a dynamic space for socializing, exploration and a chance to support and shop local.
DECK THE HEIGHTS BRINGS HOLIDAY MAGIC TO BURNABY
Ready to kick off the holidays in the Heights with Deck the Heights? If you’re local to North Burnaby, or need an excuse to check out the amazing local shops and support small businesses this holiday season, we highly recommend popping down for a afternoon of holiday magic.
Santa’s Merry Stroll:
Join the Burnaby Heights Merchant Association on December 2nd from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. as the merry old soul Santa Claus makes his way through Burnaby Heights. For up to five hours, he’ll be greeting locals and paying visits to as many businesses as his jolly feet can reach. If you see him, make sure to ask for a selfie and double check you’re on the nice list this year.
Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Store:
The spirit of the festivities radiates through the Window Decorating Extravaganza, launching on the very same joyful day. Witness as Burnaby Heights’ spirited businesses magically transform their windows into captivating displays, vying for the coveted titles of Best Festive Window Showcase and People’s Favorite, with prizes cheerfully co-sponsored by Burnaby Now. I have the pleasure of seeing these displays all month, and some of the shops really do go ALL OUT. Such a fun way to bring some festive decorations to Hastings.
From Dec. 2 to Dec. 16, join the jubilation by casting your vote for the most charming window spectacle. Voters also stand a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to their beloved Burnaby Heights establishment. The holiday decorations will sparkle until the 24th and perhaps even longer! So, bundle up in cozy scarves, don your mittens, and venture to Burnaby Hastings Street on Dec. 2 for “Deck the Heights.” Let’s illuminate this holiday season even more brilliantly than Rudolph’s radiant nose! Where would you spend your prize if you won? You’d find me at Global Pet Foods or Muckabout Gift Gallery right away!
