On TBT (Throwback Thursday) I’m remembering my dad. Tomorrow, September 12, 2014, marks the 8 year anniversary of my dad’s passing. There are so many things in my life that have happened since that he’s missed. My dad did not live the perfect life. Like many of us, he struggled through the years with addiction and depression. It is hard for me to look at the above picture and see how hard the years were on him. That picture was taken less than 4 month before he passed away at the age of 60.
There are many things I do not miss about my dad but there are also many things that I do. My dad was a GREAT cook. He worked in restaurants for most of his life. He would make you whatever you wanted and it would always be the best. I was always asking for his chicken noodle soup and borscht. I am still trying to get my borscht recipe to taste like his. He also loved nature. Whenever my brother and I went to visit, he would take us for walks through Campbell Valley Park. We would walk the trails, check out the ant hills and always stop for a rest on our favourite log under the tree we would climb. To this day, Campbell Valley Park is one of my favourite parks.
But today, as I look back on all that has happened since my dad passed away, I am sad that he was not alive to meet Nicole,
and see her grow up.
