One cat my husband said, repeatedly. One cat. I couldn’t bring home one. At 7 weeks old they would be so lonely! So... naturally I brought home two. He spends hours watching them only to say... “you made the right call”

When we lost Luna during the pandemic my heart was shattered. 19 years with a pet, half my life, hurt more than I could have ever imagined. I truly believe she sent these babies to bring us joy again.

I miss sleeping through the night though. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s not goodbye, it’s see you soon //[swipe for more 📸]

It’s hard to believe that our beloved @vanaqua is closing its doors in just a couple of days to the public. There’s been so much that the pandemic has taken from us but this just hits different.

We’ve been visiting the Aquarium since before Alivia could walk, she’d crawl around clown fish cove and stare up at the jellyfish with wide curious eyes. As she grew, she’d run laughing through the rainforest, searching for sloths and turtles. We’ve visited scuba claus and watched Rudolph and the Polar Express in 4D more times than I can count. Christmas won’t feel the same this year without it.

My blog opened some cool behind the scenes visits for her including seeing the baby stingrays before they were brought out to the touch pool, feeding the sea lions (and they never forget someone who feeds them!) and cool story times and events. It was this behind the scenes that truly opened my eyes to how much they do in conservation and how much the staff truly love their jobs. Did you know the 2014 reopening was the very first blog post I wrote? We still have the gold commemorative token and you can find the same photo through the aquarium on the photo collages.

For my usually anxious little girl; her happiest place for the longest time was in the rays room. She could spend hours leaning over with her hand in the water to feel them skim past her. We still miss them.

We were lucky enough to get in one last visit last month that was wonderful and physically distanced, it was calm in comparison to previous visits and felt like the perfect send off for us as we wait patiently for them to re-open.

MAIL DAY // [swipe for more 📸]

Anyone else have a kid that loves getting mail? Any time a package comes she asks “is that for me?!”. She was pretty stoked to get this big box from @wonderboxcanada, addressed right to her! [gifted]

With so many parents leaning towards at home schooling, hybrid or distance learning we’re all on the hunt for ways to complement curriculums in new and exciting ways.

@wonderboxcanada takes so much of the guess work out with their monthly STEAM subscription box for kids aged 4-12. Monthly handpicked and curated box show up with fun activities that kids can do with or without parents help that challenge them to learn new and exciting things and even find new interests. A wants to be a geologist now.

As soon as A opened our box she could not wait to get her hands on the geode set and we took it right outside for some smashing run followed up discovering how they are formed, what type we have and more little facts about them. I was super excited about the solar art, who remembers doing this as a kid years ago?! I can’t wait to try that with her.

Can you believe I've lived in the lower mainland almost my entire life and I've never been to the drive-in, that I can actually remember? We wanted to change that and squeeze in a family outing and visited the Twilight Drive-In last weekend.

I've been wary about "outings" but we were so impressed by how they arranged for physical distancing, staff and visitor safety and expanded the parking areas so there was plenty of room to enjoy the show. A was pretty stocked in the back seat of the @fordcanada Escape, the sliding second row seats make for easy management of of extra leg room, or extra cargo space when you need it.That cargo space came in super handy when I visited @surrey_farms_bc for @bcblueberries and left with so much fresh fruit goodness.

A also got to enjoy the very best of the movie sound with the @bangolufsen sound system. Imagine enjoying the Beauty & The Beast score with 10 speakers and a subwoofer. Be our guest indeed!

AD: We had so much fun this week playing with our new @officialcricut Joy machine, given how tiny our house is I absolutely love that the new machine is small enough for us to keep out for everyday use. We personalized a journal we had lying around, made a fun opaque pencil case, and will be adding some weekly activities inside including drawing and writing prompts, stickers, and more. Best part? Now more than ever we're paying attention to keeping our kids healthy. A big part of staying that way is having a healthy gut, proper nutrition, lots of sleep, and vitamins. If you look at me and my daughter, we're part of that community you're protecting by self-isolating during the current world crisis. I have compromised lungs and double pneumonia was something I barely made it through 2 years ago. Alivia has asthma, which is made worse when she's sick. We miss our friends and family deeply but are so thankful for a world of technology to stay connected. We couldn't be more grateful.

Thank you, every single day you stay inside, every single time you wash your hands, every single time you practice social distancing and self-isolation you are protecting me and my family and the most vulnerable in our community.

We aren't in this alone, this too shall pass. I continue to be amazed by incredible human beings in my circle that check-in, plan zoom chats, online games, and endless support.

It was a 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 visi

It was a 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 visit to @fanexpovancouver with kiddo in tow this year. She's a budding artist, lover of anime, comics, "cute things" and the look on her face when she got to sneak in with the VIP crowd was nothing short of elated. We've been working hard with her and her anxiety. She often compares her art to those around her so the value of Artist Row at Fan Expo Vancouver wasn't lost on us. She was able to wander up and down the aisles, watching each artist draw in their element and take in how different their skills all were, but also how many people enjoyed their work.

She got to meet one of my favourites @camilladerrico, who's won me over with her Hero & Villain bee series and A also ended up picking her own up and the Beehive book! Combine this with an epic family zone, endless shopping, panels and more, we spent an entire day soaking it all in!

We ended our super full day with an @epicphotoops meet & greet with a few of the actors from Battlestar Galactica, not going to lie I was half tempted to Cricut myself a few cylon signs! Naturally, A's new friend Sushi that she picked up at one of the makers also made an appearance in our photo.

We're already counting down to next year and you can to! Mark 𝐅𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝟏𝟑 – 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 in your calendar as the next Epic Fan Expo weekend and keep an eye on their website for the list of guests you can see next year. My nerdy self will be there!
