Perfect timing though, seeing as on May 28th @diabetescanada is hosting another Curbside Drop Off Event! It’s a convenient way to donate stuff you don’t need & support Diabetes research initiatives in your communities. I really believe it feels good to not make trash, so by participating in a Curbside Drop Off event you're helping divert millions of pounds of textiles from landfills.

WHERE TO GO // May 28th from 9 am-12 pm.

🚗 Abbotsford: 2323 Emerson Street (MSA Arena)

--> Roll up, pop your trunk with your clothing and small household items, and volunteers will collect the items and vroom, away you go!

// you know it’s a good swag bag when it doesn’t even make it in the house before the fam starts digging through it! Last night we enjoyed the 4th sip & savour event with @hflvancouver & @wholefoodsbc and WOW….

I love that each event has a different assortment of delicious foods and drinks to try out, many of them plant based and from some of our fave brands! Each event has introduced our family to new favourites that we can easily find at our local Whole Foods.

Blue skies in our house calls for a drive with no destination. We may end up at a park, a friends house, the pool, who knows really? There's something to be said about piling into the car with good tunes playing and just enjoying the drive!

Our friends at @mazdacanada have us in the seat of a few vehicles this summer to try out to see what fits our family best and the CX-30 fits all *my* needs amazingly. This subcompact SUV is the perfect ride for someone who loves their hatch back (aka me) but also wants a bit higher of a ride (also me).

The top 3 things I loved about the CX-30:
🚗 Smooth, powerful ride. I live on the top of a mountain and the CX-30 was UP for the challenge. It's a speedy one.
🚗 Minimal distractions. The interior is designed in a cohesive way that limits visual distractions. No touch screens, but an easily navigated menu screen.
🚗 Fuel Efficiency. By using optimal distribution of torque and minimizing drivetrain energy loss, the CX-30 is arguably one of the most fuel efficient vehicles that wasn't a hybrid that I've driven. And let's be serious, if you're cruising with these gas prices... you need fuel efficiency.

REAL TALK // Did you know that every year in BC,

REAL TALK //

Did you know that every year in BC, approximately 200 women will get cervical cancer and 50 will die from the disease? That's a staggering number. Worldwide, cervical carcinoma is the third most common cancer in women. Chances are you, or someone you know, will be impacted by this disease at some point in their lives.

HPV is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections, with 3 out of 4 sexually active people infected in their lifetime. In women who have never been infected with HPV, the HPV vaccine prevents about 90% of cases of cervical cancer.

But here's the thing ---> a major misconception is that HPV is a "women's issue", however males are more likely to develop oropharyngeal cancer than females, and are much less likely to get vaccinated. With many people presenting as asymptomatic, they unknowingly spread it to their partner.

Let's change that.

The HPV vaccine is free for most people under the age of 19 in BC and the earlier you get vaccinated, the better. It provides almost 100% protection from nine HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52 and 58 all while offering lasting protection even if you've been exposed to the virus. Visit www.before19.ca for more information on how to access the vaccine, facts and studies to find information to discuss with your family doctor.

👋 hello new friends! It's been a minute since I introduced myself around here, hasn't it?

For fun, here's 6 random facts about me you may or may not know... other than the fact I am a total nerd:

👉 I type 130 words a minute with near perfect accuracy, I can type faster than most people can speak.
👉 I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and it impacts a lot of my day to day. Thanks to medication, it's managed in a way that makes my days much easier (take those pills friends!)
👉 I met my spouse in grade 3 when I came home for a play date with his sister, we weren't very nice to him as the little brother but he eventually forgave me.
👉 I'm deaf in one ear, I often leeeeeean when people are speaking to me so I can hear them properly.
👉 My eyes are the same colour as my hair, I either have hazel hair or strawberry blonde eyes, you decide.
👉 I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which causes my hair to grow at record speed, it's a running joke that I have mermaid hair with how fast it grows. PCOS also impacts a lot of other things in my life, but that's a topic for another day!
