Pumpkin spice has landed, it’s almost sweata weather and that means it’s also FALL CLEAN UP time! (ad) As you’re packing away the summer clothes and checking on the fall attire, make sure to package up anything you’re ready to part with and bring it to the @diabetescanada contactless drop off event!

Throw your sealed bags and boxes in your trunk and stop by Saturday September 11th from 9-2 at:

🍂 Nanaimo, Diabetes Canada Clothing Collection Centre, 4166 Departure Bay Rd
🍂 West Kelowna, Superstore, 3020 Louie Dr

Volunteers wearing masks and gloves will safely remove the items from your vehicle and away you go! Not close to one of these spots? They have locations across Canada! Visit declutter.diabetes.ca to find one close to you.

Your donations, no matter how big or small they may be, directly impact research funding, sending kids to important camps and offering support to those in need in the diabetes community. Hope you’ll join us in filling up that truck & keeping textiles out of the landfill!

Is anyone else eager to begin this upcoming school year? 🎒 @sonderly.io, an online educational and training platform that provides autism resources, is helping educators and moms like myself across Canada so we are prepared to support our kids.

As a parent, it’s difficult to find time to learn about new teaching methods and platforms that are tailored to children with neurodiverse needs. I actually just enrolled in a Sonderly course and love how it curates and decodes clinical research, and presents it in a user-friendly way. Sonderly has a robust digital library of applied behaviour analysis-based (ABA) courses and training materials that combine theory, practice, and testing, so that teachers and parents can stay up to date on the most relevant and effective training available. The platform is so special because it provides you with practical tools and bite sized information to take you beyond just awareness, and impact bigger change.

We visited @visitrichmondbc for checked out the Steveston Walking Tour which is filled with so much rich history about Richmond, a deep dive into the struggles and perseverance of Chinese and Japanese immigrants and an incredible look at their traditions and much more.

The tour is free, but also takes you through bustling communities full of delicious food, fresh catches of the day and some amazing scenery.

If your family is on an unlearning journey like ours, I highly suggest setting aside the whole day to immerse yourself in this incredible, self-guided, insightful tour. We’ve got you! Lucky for you (and me!) There are 3 upcoming contactless donation locations on August 7th, just in time to clear out some room for back to school!

In honor of the 100th anniversary of insulin being discovered, Diabetes Canada is hosting 100 curbside donation events to drive awareness and keep textiles out of landfills!

On Saturday August 7th visit:
🚗 Kelowna, IGA, 1940 Kane Rd
🚗 Langley, Royal Canadian Legion, 26607 Fraser Hwy
🚗Nanaimo, Superstore, 6435 Metral Dr

Look for the Diabetes truck and roll on through with your new or gently used textiles in clear bags or cardboard boxes, pop your trunk and PPE clad volunteers will happily collect your donations and away you go!

Where are your donations going? Diabetes Canada uses your generous donations to help fund:
→ Important Diabetes research
→ Sending kids and their families to camp
→ Support and counselling for community members with Diabetes
→ And to help divert thousands of pounds of waste from landfills!

Between school, working and a full family schedule

Between school, working and a full family schedule I don’t want to worry about the bacteria my kid may encounter!
